Practical Bedside Examination of Vertigo Workshop
Practical Bedside Examination of Vertigo Workshop was held on March 18th, 2023, from 13:30 to 17:00 at the Baben Hall in the GIS Taichung Xinwuri Convention Center. The workshop was organized by the Autonomic Nervous System and Dizziness Study Group of the Taiwan Neurological Society and Dizziness Research Group.
Vertigo and dizziness are frequent health complaints that can have a significant impact on an individual's quality of life. These symptoms can stem from various underlying conditions, ranging from harmless inner ear disorders to more severe neurological issues.
Vertigo and dizziness are frequent health complaints that can have a significant impact on an individual's quality of life. These symptoms can stem from various underlying conditions, ranging from harmless inner ear disorders to more severe neurological issues.
The workshop was structured into four sessions, each addressing a distinct aspect of vertigo and dizziness. The first session focused on vestibular ocular motor testing, which involves assessing eye movements to evaluate the vestibular system responsible for balance and spatial orientation. The second session incorporated an eye movement test using a video oculography (VOG) and a video nystagmography (VNG) system, a helpful diagnostic tool for specific types of vertigo. The third session centered on positional vertigo testing, which entails moving the head and body into different positions to identify abnormal responses that may indicate a vestibular disorder. The final session examined balance and gait testing, which assesses a person's ability to maintain balance and walk safely.
During the workshop, the NeuroSwift System developed by Neurobit was used for eye movement testing. This system provides high-quality images and videos with high resolution dynamic pupil reaction measurements. This allows for a cost-effective and straightforward assessment of the patient's vestibular function, eye movement, and pupil reactions. The demonstrated results of the system during the workshop received high praise from the attendees.

The workshop drew a diverse range of participants, including healthcare professionals and physicians from various disciplines. Attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to deepen their understanding of vertigo and dizziness and the various diagnostic and treatment approaches. They also praised the interactive nature of the sessions, which provided ample opportunities to ask questions and engage in discussions with the presenters.
The success of the workshop underscores the growing recognition of the impact of vertigo and dizziness on individuals' quality of life. Neurobit specializes in developing advanced medical devices that aid physicians in diagnosing vertigo and dizziness. Through this workshop, we hope to help more people gain insight into the detection of dizziness symptoms.
