PROVIDE|Clinical Application of Acute Vertigo Diagnosis

In emergency medicine, acute and persistent vertigo without obvious focal neurological deficits is one of the most challenging clinical symptoms. Most patients have benign vestibular system disorders, but a portion are actually central causes such as posterior circulation stroke. They present highly similarly but may lead to severe consequences.

Even with traditional neurological examinations and imaging studies (such as CT or MRI), significant diagnostic limitations and missed diagnosis risks still exist in the acute phase, placing high decision-making uncertainty on frontline physicians under time pressure.

Background of the PROVIDE program
PROVIDE is an important medical evaluation program under the Dutch Zorgevaluatie Nederland (ZE&GG), focusing on improving the diagnostic process for acute vertigo patients, assessing the feasibility and value of different examination tools and strategies in real clinical settings.

This program specifically focuses on the application of the HINTS+ examination in non-highly specialized medical environments, as well as how to enhance its diagnostic consistency and reproducibility through auxiliary tools, and reduce reliance on single imaging examinations.

The role of Neurobit: From research to clinical workflow
In the PROVIDE program, Neurobit will introduce eye movement and vestibular function analysis techniques into the emergency clinical workflow, supporting frontline physicians in conducting more objective, quantifiable vertigo differential diagnoses.

The core value of the Neurobit lies in transforming the originally highly dependent on expert experience bedside interpretation into a standardized, repeatable clinical tool, enabling advanced diagnostic capabilities to be implemented in general emergency settings.

Actual clinical application scenarios
In the clinical practice of the PROVIDE program, the Neurobit's technology is applied to the following key processes:

  • Emergency initial assessment: Through video-assisted eye movement measurement, it supports the standardized implementation of the HINTS+ check, reducing the impact of physician experience differences on the results.
  • Real-time diagnostic decision support: Providing objective and quantifiable eye movement and vestibular indicators as important references for further arrangements of MRI, neurology consultation, or inpatient observation.
  • Introduction to non-specialty settings: Transforming the diagnostic capabilities previously concentrated in a few neurotology centers into a process design that can be operated in general emergency rooms.
  • Clinical data structuring and retention: Assisting in systematically storing eye movement and vestibular examination results to support quality management, subsequent analysis, and optimization of medical decision-making.

Implementation effectiveness and clinical value

Through the practical implementation of the PROVIDE program, the utility of Neurobit display technology at the clinical forefront:
  • Enhancing the consistency and reliability of acute vertigo diagnosis.
  • Reducing excessive reliance on CT or early MRI.
  •  Assisting in the early identification of high-risk central causes, lowering the risk of missed diagnosis of posterior circulation stroke.
  • Enhance the diagnostic capabilities and confidence in non-highly specialized emergency departments.

From evidence-based evaluation to clinical implementation
The PROVIDE program represents a significant milestone for Neurobit's technology as it transitions from research validation to practical clinical implementation. Through collaboration with a national-level medical evaluation program, Neurobit not only participates in the establishment of evidence-based medicine but is also committed to transforming high-risk diagnostic capabilities into widely adoptable clinical solutions.

Neurobit will continue to promote the application of eye movement and vestibular function analysis in emergency departments and clinical decision-making, assisting healthcare systems in making more accurate and evidence-based judgments at critical moments.
